You are right about the importance of your back and no apologies needed about your English- I understand you fully. If you email here on the site, I can offer some remote sessions for your back and recommend a BodyTalk practitioner who lives nearer you.

Hi ,sorry for my english I am from argentina (I lived in a town near Buenos Aires) and I am very sad and desperated.I have a lumbar herniated disc (with rupture of disc between lumbar 5 and sacrum 1 vertebrae) and it touch the sciatic nerve of my right leg.I am in an excrutiating pain since 7 months.I try acupuncture with doctors, kinesiology and moxa but the pain remains less. Now I am with a friend who does osteopathy and a homeopatic and quiropractic doctor that give me some relief. The other doctors told me that the only way I have is the surgery but I know it has many risks. Please could you help me somehow what i can do for becoming better (e.g exercises or foods or herbs that can help, I read that safroon and cardanomo may help or what food or movement or exercise increase the pain?).Or if you know some good ayurvedic doctor (or tibetan vertebral praxis or traditional chinese ,etc)or if you know any person who can give me some help in my situation.(someone very serious who could help me in buenos aires )please. The back is a very critic place (we have 10 fingers but only one back).Thank you very much for your help sincerely.

Hi Ana,

thanks so much for the questions. You could try tapping out your Cortices everyday- see the BodyTalk System video with John Veltheim as he demonstrates how to do the technique on yourself- as this will help reset the stress threshold within the amygdala complex. You might also try getting a basic biology diagram of the amygdala and doing some visualisation whilst EFT tapping. I think a set up phrase such as you suggested would help but I also think you might want to go deeper with your EFT tapping as well as doing your Cortices everyday. How about asking yourself these questions: 'if my panic were a colour, what colour would it be? What shape or texture? What emotion or feeling does panic have? What person, place or event comes to mind when tapping on panic? And if my panic was trying to speak to me, what might it be saying?'

These questions will elicit some deeper tappable issues and help you access some of the subsconscious aspects that are causing the anxiety and panic. You might want to write down your responses and tap through them until the shape, colour, feeling, etc shift. Then look again at the questions and see what comes up. This way you can begin to examine what your bodymind is trying to highlight through the symptom.

Good luck and comment again if you want any clarification.

Hi! First and foremost, thanks for the all the helpful information!

I have been dealing with anxiety and panic attacks for a few years now. They usually appear when I am going through major changes in my life. I have tried EFT'ing 'fear of change' and I'm not really getting any results. I read that the amygdala is the part of the brain that controls the fear response. Instead of EFT'ing the actual fear, what do you think of EFT'ing the actual physical cause of the problem - the amygdala. If so, what kind of statement should I use? Something like, 'even though my amygdale overreacts..." ? Or do you recommend continuing with the 'fear of change' statement?

Thanks for the question- Emotionally, our shoulders represent our ability to carry out experiences in life enjoyably- we make life a burden by our attitude. Shoulders as joints, also represent changes in the direction of life and how easy you find these changes. The back is about our support in life- upper back is a lack of emotional support, feeling unloved. Neck is to do with flexibility and a refusal to see other sides of the question. Pelvis is a fear of moving forward in major decisions. Right side is masculine stuff- responsibility, rationality, reason.

Lots of potential factors but addressing one part of the body without looking at you as a whole person has resulted in a worsening state. Your poor shoulder is only trying to get your attention! If you can hear what it is saying then you have the chance to address the underlying causes.

Last week I saw a chiropracter because of a sore right shoulder. I came out of the appointment with a sore shoulder, neck, back and pelvis. It's still no better, worse in fact. Any ideas?

Thanks for the questions.

Michele- sometimes the causes are really well hidden, usually our subconscious is trying to protect us from a difficult emotion. It could be that you have an issue with the reciprocal area of the foot which in your case is the left hand. The hands denote our ways of dealing with experiences- holding, handling, grasping, letting go. It might be worth looking for what else is going on when the tightness occurs. Feet represent our understanding of ourselves and others. What are the triggers?

In response to the energy v’s other factors question- it’s all energy one way or another. When your body is balanced it can cope with just about anything. In an EFT Nottingham session, your body tells me what it needs to be balanced to it’s environment, etc. When all aspects of the bodymind are communicating effectively your body is amazingly adaptive. So in a session I am aware of the many different factors that effect a client- but it is their own body that determines what the priority is.

Colleen- Migraine headaches can have as many causes are there are clients and each person brings their own unique history to a session. Dietary, hormonal, stress and emotional factors all have effects upon the body and mind but emotional factors can include self-criticism, resisting the flow of your life, being unable to ’stand’ in your own power, sexual anxieties and a fear of being driven by others.

I work with hormones, the organs and the bodily systems as well as the emotional responses and messages that a client is experiencing. They all need to be accounted for and listened to for effective and ongoing well-being to be maintained. In a session it is the client’s body that directs what needs to be addressed and in what order. The body ALWAYS knows the best way to deal with it’s OWN issues. A session at EFT Nottingham just allows your body to remember it’s own capacity to heal and then your body does the rest!

I concur with you that emotions are the reason behind our illness or blockages. Once we tackle the emotions that arise and learn to face them head on, we will rid ourselves of pain and illness.

Thanks for your insights on individual physical issues.

Still looking for answers why people get migraine headaches. Why some are so debilitating? Are they hormonal?
